Is Oligotropha carboxidovorans a true electrotroph in biocathodic systems?

5th Congress of European Microbiologists | FEMS 2013, Leipzig

Last Tuesday, 23rd July, the PhD student Ariadna Vilar-Sanz presented her research study entitled “Is Oligotropha carboxidovorans a true electrotroph in biocathodic systems?” at the FEMS2013 conference in Leipzig (Germany).

Vilar-Sanz, A., Pous, N., García-Lledó, A., Puig, S., Balaguer, M.D., Colprim, J., Banyeras, Ll. 2013. Is Oligotropha carboxidovorans a true electrotroph in biocathodic systems?. 5th Congress of European Microbiologists (FEMS). Leipzig (Germany). July 21-25, 2013.

During her platform presentation she combined nicely microbiological and electrochemical tools. She concluded that significant differences exist in the electrotrophic capacity when almost identical isolates are compared, thus showing that this activity is a strain specific trait of Oligotropha like microorganisms.
